How SUMA works on the inside: who we let go on air, what happens to your gift and how to recognize us.
How to recognize SUMA
SUMA only receives gifts at sumashow.com. Never by bank transfer, mobile payment, Zelle or direct message.
Nobody on the team will write to ask you for money. If someone does so on behalf of SUMA or Mariana, our presenter, it's a scam.
Report a scamWho we let go on air
- We review the organization's legal documents.
- We hold a video call with its legal representative.
- We screen the organization and its representative against international sanctions lists.
- We check that the bank account is in the organization's name.
- A person on the team decides, always. Artificial intelligence only helps to organize.
- Once the community committee is active, it will review each project's numbers (budget, unit cost, goal and timeline) and vote before it goes on air.
What happens to your gift
All or nothing. If the project reaches its goal, it happens. If it doesn't, nobody pays.
Today the show runs in test mode: gifts are recorded on the counter, but nothing is charged. When card payments arrive, your gift will be held on your card and only charged if the goal is reached. The organization receives the money in tranches, against evidence that the project is moving forward.
Afterwards, the organization publishes its report with photos, invoices and the number of people helped, and every donor receives their impact certificate.
Community rules
- Messages on the wall and names shown on screen can't contain links.
- Nobody may present themselves as SUMA, its team or “support”.
- No insults or attacks: the team hides on the spot any message that disrespects other people.
- Anyone who belongs to an organization can't give to their own project.
- SUMA is a link between the giver and the project: it verifies, presents, follows up and publishes. Carrying out the project is the organization's responsibility (responsibility agreement).
- An organization that doesn't report how the money was used doesn't go on air again.
Did you see something odd?
A project that doesn't add up, an offensive message or someone pretending to be SUMA: let us know and a person on the team will review it.
