Frequently asked questions

If we reach the goal, the project happens. If not, nobody pays. Here's the rest.

How it works

What is SUMA?

A live show where verified social projects are presented, each with a goal and a clock. While the clock runs, the audience gives and the counter moves in real time.

What does “all or nothing” mean?

Your gift is reserved, not charged (once payments launch, the hold will be placed on your card). If the project reaches its goal, every reservation is charged and the project happens. If it doesn't, every reservation is released and nobody pays. You never fund a project halfway.

What if a project ends up close to the goal?

Projects that pass 80 % can come back at the end of the show for a 5-minute rescue round. Reservations are kept in the meantime: you still pay nothing until the result is known.

Can I give before the show?

Yes. From the next show's lineup you can leave a pledge so the project doesn't start from zero. It works the same way: it's only charged if the goal is reached.

How much can I give?

From $1. The buttons suggest amounts from $20 to $500, and you can type another. For gifts over $5,000 we ask you to write to us: we verify them with you first.

Can I cancel my gift?

Yes, as long as the project hasn't reached its goal: right after giving or in “My impact”. It's removed from the counter and the feed, and nothing is charged. Once the project reaches the goal, the gift stands. A winning auction bid can't be cancelled.

Trust

Who approves a project going on air?

Two filters. First, the SUMA team verifies the organization and reviews the project (documents, video call, sanctions lists, budget and goal). Then, once the community committee is active, its members will review the numbers (budget, unit cost, goal and timeline) and vote. When a project has the required votes, its page will say “Approved by the community committee”. Nobody on the committee can vote on a project from their own organization.

How do I know the organization is real?

Before going on air, the SUMA team reviews its documents, holds a video call with the legal representative, screens it against sanctions lists and validates its bank account. A person decides, always. Only organizations with the “Verified” seal go on air.

How do I know the project was carried out?

After the show, the organization uploads its impact report with photos, invoices and the number of people helped. We publish it on the project page. An organization that doesn't report doesn't go on air again.

What is the impact certificate?

When the organization reports, you receive a certificate with what your gift made possible, calculated with the real cost of each unit (for example, how many lunches or school kits). You can share it as a story.

Who is the “matching sponsor”?

A person or company that matches every gift from the audience up to a cap announced on screen with their name. Before activating it, the team verifies who they are. You can also offer to be a matching sponsor from any project page.

Your privacy

Does my name appear on screen?

You choose with every gift: full name, initials and city, or anonymous. Even if you give anonymously, your confirmation and certificate reach you privately.

Can I stop receiving show notices?

Yes. Every notice has an “Unsubscribe” link. Emails about your own gifts and certificates keep arriving.

The show

What is the charity auction?

A feature we're testing: in some projects, a donated experience or item will be auctioned live. You'll see the estimated value, the bids and a clock; a bid in the final seconds adds time, to keep it fair. The winning bid adds to the project's goal and follows all or nothing: if the project doesn't make it, nobody pays and the item isn't delivered. No raffles, no chance.

Can I watch the show on a TV with my group?

Yes. The room screen shows the goal, the clock, the gifts and a QR code so each person can give from their phone. Designed for synagogues, churches, schools or offices.

I stream on TikTok, YouTube or Twitch. Can I bring a project to my audience?

Yes. In your profile, under “Bring more supporters”, you have a link to add as a browser source in OBS or TikTok Live Studio. Your audience sees the goal, the clock and every gift live, with a QR to join in. Whoever signs up on SUMA from your QR counts as a supporter you brought.

Can I pay by card yet?

Not yet. SUMA is in test mode: you can go through the show and record gifts, but nothing is charged. Card payments arrive with the launch.

Organizations

How do I submit a project?

Create your organization's account and complete the step-by-step application. An AI assistant helps you organize the information and documents, but you enter the figures and a person on the team makes the final decision.

How much does SUMA charge the organization?

It only charges if the project reaches its goal: 15 % of what was raised. If it doesn't, the organization pays nothing. The 10 Founding Organizations pay no fee on their first achieved project. Today SUMA runs in test mode and charges nothing yet; before the first charge we'll explain how the funds arrive and what other costs exist.

What do you ask for to verify my organization?

The legal registration (RIF, EIN or other) and the founding document, a video call with the legal representative, a bank account in the organization's name, two references from allies or institutions and whatever you have from previous work (website, social media, press, photos). Sanctions lists are also checked. A person on the team makes the decision.

Why do you ask for 30 % before the show?

A project goes on air only if it arrives with at least 30 % of its goal in pledges (from its community and, if any, from the matching sponsor). That way none starts from zero and reaching the goal is far more likely. Every project comes with a 7-day outreach plan to get there.

What happens after the show?

If the project is achieved, the organization carries it out and uploads its impact report from the phone. With that report, every donor receives their certificate.
