SUMA for everyone
We want anyone to be able to watch the show and give, however they use their phone. This page says what we do and how to let us know if something doesn't work.
Our goal
To meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the public site and the organization and team panels.
What we do today
- A typeface designed for low vision (Atkinson Hyperlegible Next) and color contrast checked on every screen.
- Everything works with a keyboard: focus is always visible and no step of giving depends on a mouse.
- Animations are reduced or removed when your device asks for it (“reduce motion”); the clock and the bar keep informing without moving.
- Every image and button has text for screen readers; counter changes are announced without interrupting.
- Accessibility audits (WCAG AA rules, with axe) on public, organization and team pages before every major release.
- The room screen and the live page work at 375 pixels wide (a small phone) with no sideways scrolling.
What we don't cover yet
- Promotional videos have Spanish captions; each show's replay relies on YouTube's automatic captions.
- The live show doesn't have sign-language interpretation or audio description yet.
- Documents uploaded by organizations (invoices, photos) are published as delivered; we describe each photo with a short text.
